Pretty Much Practical (but still fun) Wishlist

1. A new apple laptop. My poor old laptop (from 4 years ago, which is practically 100 in technology age) seems to be on it's last leg.  I love my desktop computer, but it would be nice to sit outside and do some blogging which isn't currently possible since my laptop battery only lasts about half an hour when unplugged.

2. A studio space.  I love my apartment, but I'm sure Leanne would love it if it wasn't completely taken over by my work sometimes.  I don't ask for much, just some large windows, good light, and a nice view.  Ok, maybe that is a lot.

3. A dress form in my size.  My current one is a bit bigger than me and since I don't know a whole lot about dress making, it would make things easier if my dress form was my size.

4. A cutting table.  Once again, I love my apartment and luckily this one came with a table that I can use, but it would be lovely to have a designated work surface that didn't double as an eating area.

Today only you will be able to get a lovely tshirt and receive free shipping.  Sounds yummy, no?  Here are a few things that I'm adding to the mix today.

I made a couple sweatshirts as well, but I'm debating whether or not I want to post them today.  You might be seeing them a little bit later.  :)

You know what it's time for... Supermodel documentary hour!

I've always been a fan of documentaries, but there has been a surge in my interest as of late.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Man on Wire (2008) (on netflix instant watch)

Even though I knew the outcome of this film (umm, hello they show present day interviews with this guy) I was still on the edge of my seat about what was going to happen next.  The French have such passion and fire that you can't help but get wrapped up in it.

The Devil and Daniel Johnston (2005)

Oh Daniel Johnston, where do I begin?  Such an amazing and strange person.  Everything he makes is so incredible and his life was so well documented the move makers had tons and tons to pull from.  This is absolutely one of the most well-made documentaries I've seen.

How to Draw a Bunny (2002)

If you think that Daniel Johnston is misunderstood then wait until you meet Ray Johnson.  His life and death was so mysterious to even those who were close to him.  When I wanted to be a collage artist he was a major inspiration for me.

Beautiful Losers (2008) (on netflix instant watch)

I love everything that these people create.  It makes me want to start my very own artist group and take over the world.  Anyone care to join?

No Impact Man: The Documentary (2009)

This documentary shows the ups and downs of a family trying to drastically reduce their impact on the environment.  What's great about it is that even though at some points you hate them you still love them for what they're trying to do.

I hadn't heard much by the Flaming Lips before I watched this film, but I knew I had to be better acquainted once I saw it.  It will knock your sock off!

Babies (2010) (on netflix instant watch)

Alright, so this is a no-brainer.  Adorable babies, check.  Amazing landscapes, check.  It has everything going for it.  If you'd really like to kick things up a notch, and well, we did, play a drinking game to it.  We took a drink every time a baby cried for more than three seconds, but I think if did every time you saw a tit you'd be feeling pretty good by the end as well.

Herb & Dorothy (2008)

This darling little couple loves to collect art like no one I've seen.  They have jam packed their tiny tiny apartment and saved money in all kinds of ways (like by only having dial-up internet gasp!) in order to afford more art.  Because of this they have great stories to tell and a priceless pieces of art.

And I can't leave out my favorite mokumentary:

Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)

I laugh out loud every single time I see this movie.  If you haven't seen it yet, then you need to see it now.  I mean it, NOW!

I'm sure some really great ones didn't make it up here, what are your favorite documentaries?  Any recommendations?

Music to My Ears

I recorded this song a little bit ago.  I had planned on making an animation but realized that I don't have after effects, so this will just have to do.  Hope you enjoy it!

Monday Morning

I love the morning light that comes through the windows by my desk.  The clouds are moving so fast and the wind blows through the trees as I sit here typing away.
I can't believe that Thanksgiving is this week!  Leanne and I must firm up our Thanksgiving meal plans but we're trying to figure out the best way to do it on the cheap.  When I was wandering around the internets I found a recipe for Bacon Pumpkin Pie which sounds oh so very tempting.

My office.
My lovely plants, Howard (on the right) has been with me for 5 years!

Family portrait on top (yes, I made that recently).
My Vonnegut collection.  Buy me more?  I want them all!

YES YES YES! (YES!)

Here are some more graphics.  Making these are my new favorite thing.

YES YES YES!

I found myself feeling terribly unproductive today, even though I finished sewing a skirt, made a headband, and started making plans for some new clothes, I decided to put my seamstress self to rest and work on some graphics.  I think I'm going to make something like this for all of my clothes, I just need to take some pictures.

More Travel Adventures

On our way back to Austin from Houston, we decided to stay in San Antonio instead!  San Antonio turned out to be quite the touristy town and the Alamo was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, but it was fantastic!  The River Walk is a windy water-way that is below street level and is lined with shops, restaurants, and bars.  Kind of reminded me of Disneyland a bit.  I definitely want to go back and explore it at night!

Some of the sections didn't have any railing, so if you get too drunky you might end up swimming with the fishes!

Oh so very Texas.

Trying to remember the Alamo.

Traveling Through Texas

Since my mom was here for a few days we thought we would head south and check out Houston.  It was actually much cooler and bigger than I thought!  They have tons of recycled clothing stores and some pretty good food as well.  I'll post pictures from our detour through San Antonio tomorrow.

Leanne totally rocked the scarf I knit.

We wandered through a neighborhood with enormous houses.
